Richard Buggee recently explained the philosophy behind Family Britches:
“Our philosophy has always been that when you are a specialty store, you need to be more unique.
We carried Polo in 1971 when Ralph just started his line.
We launched Patagonia when they offered one short (the Stand-up) and one shirt.
Tommy Bahama offered three floral shirts.
Vineyard Vines had a few ties.
We no longer represent any of these lines because they are no longer true to their roots. Family Britches searches the market worldwide, to give our customers to experience special merchandise they won’t find everywhere and on line. Combining elements from exceptional not cookie cutter manufacturers allow us to present a fresh approach to your wardrobe each season.
We love to hear our customers say “I haven’t seen this anywhere.”
Our collections of merchandise are truly for the individual who really loves of seeing, feeling and trying on clothing combinations that are new to the market. We can’t wait to share our passion and market knowledge. We are enthusiastic as we were nearly fifty years ago when we started in the barn on top of the hill.
An example is how excited we get to see a new shirt line that had a different washing technique. Not earth shattering like polyester but that is what you call passion for product and innovation for our customers.”
